Every month we feature a business that takes the trust their customers place in them seriously, and does something about it. This month, Stamp Code.
Stamp Code is a one-person Melbourne studio building custom websites for small businesses, paired with AI-driven lead automation so enquiries actually get answered. Most agencies hand over a site and move on. Shrutika Shedha builds like she's still responsible for whether it actually works.
Behind Stamp Code is a senior UX designer with more than ten years of experience across New Zealand and Australia, including enterprise work for IAG, Fisher & Paykel and NZ Post. These days she has shifted her focus entirely to Melbourne allied health practices whose website has fallen behind the business they've built.
"Design was always the place where messy problems turned into clean answers, and I wanted a seat closer to the mess. Large brands taught me the craft; small businesses are where it actually matters most."
That instinct is baked into the name of her business. "Stamp is the mark a good site leaves on a business," she explains. "Code is the craft underneath that makes it last."
Shrutika didn't ease into running her own studio. "Terrifying, honestly," she says of the leap. "I'd just had a baby and was starting a business in a new country at the same time." What she wasn't expecting was how the city would meet her. "What's surprised me is how openly Melbourne owners introduce each other. This city really does run on referrals and warmth."
That warmth now shows up in how she describes what she actually does for clients: "I build websites that bring you the right customers and look after all the techy stuff, so you can focus on your patients."
She sees the cost of unclear websites up close, and most of it has nothing to do with design in the traditional sense. "Buried phone numbers, generic or outdated content, long contact forms, and no sign of the real humans behind the business," she lists. "None of it looks like a design problem, but the owner never sees the customer who closed the tab."
It is a problem she has rebuilt from scratch more than once. "A Melbourne service business came to me with a slow site nobody wanted to touch, and enquiries from the wrong postcodes," she says. "We rebuilt it in plain HTML with clear service areas and solid SEO, and the owner now gets steady, local enquiries without chasing them."
For a designer who builds AI-driven automation into her own client sites, Shrutika is clear-eyed about where the technology belongs in her own process. "AI handles the scaffolding: drafts, boilerplate, accessibility checks, pattern-spotting," she says. "It now lives inside the tools I already use: Figma, Miro, GA. Strategy and taste stay human, because knowing which version belongs on this business is still a people job."
She extends the same practical eye to how small businesses now get found. "Search is a conversation now, and AI picks who to mention," she says, "so put a short, plain-English 'About' block near the top of your homepage saying what you do, who you do it for, and where." Her advice on trusting what AI tools say back is just as direct: "Treat AI's answers as a draft, not a verdict, because it still gets things wrong, and your business can't afford to repeat its mistakes."
Stamp Code has had its own website independently reviewed by AegorIQ, checking the things that sit underneath good design: privacy and compliance basics, security, and how clearly the site reads to both customers and the AI tools now sitting alongside search. For Shrutika, it's one piece of a bigger picture she's building toward: "Growing Stamp Code into the kind of partner small businesses actually need, with partnerships like this one with AegorIQ covering the pieces I don't own."
Trust is the absence of nasty surprises, in pricing, in scope and on the page. Real photos, a real address, real reviews, a real privacy policy, and an easy way to reach a real person quietly do most of the heavy lifting.Shrutika Shedha Founder, Stamp Code
A quick tip from Shrutika, for any small business owner reading this: "Read your homepage aloud as if you've never seen it, or have someone else read it. If the first three lines don't say what you do, who it's for, and what to do next, rewrite them in plain English with a clear call to action."
Fun fact: before Melbourne, Auckland was home for twelve years. "I think of them as sisters," she says. "Same warmth, better menu."
Congratulations, Stamp Code, thank you for showing what it looks like to build practice websites with this much care.
